Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance In honor of Flag Day. Five daughters in the military In Natchez, Tennessee, Sammy Lee Rice has all 7 of his daughters at home - for a change. Four of the daughters are in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The fifth recently left the service to get married.
Volunteers make gaiters for U.S. troops abroad About 60 members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Orange, California, got together one Sunday afternoon to turn out about 650 gaiters - in this case, fleece tubes for soldiers to wear around their neck, mouth and nose, to protect from desert wind and dust. Kay Lebowitz doesn't just support the troops - she hugs them as they return. 90-year-old Kay, and a few dozen other greeters, many of them veterans, come to the airport to greet troops, both returning and departing. |

Horatio Alger Military Veterans Scholarship program.

Marines help out in Philippines More than 5000 Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit are helping relief efforts in the Philippines, recently hit by a massive mudslide. |
